1) we need regulations to prevent corporations from poisoning us

2) we need taxes for our schools and infrastructure

3) We never had a problem with the 1st amendment. It is only the buffoons who want hateful speech to be accepted (provided it is not directed at them)

Why hasn’t anyone specifically questioned the definition of “woke“ from those bandying the term as a pejorative? The term “woke“ always referred to a state of consciousness and/or alertness. Stay woke - like a sentry or guard. The weird and twisted way those seeking to manipulate by redefining terms of which there is zero knowledge will forever amuse me, like CRT and gentle parenting.

Words inevitably do drift around and change their meaning. The linguist John McWhorter has traced the evolution of the term "woke" over time.

I read this excellent and informative article by Kharys Rhea yesterday and will now be writing a response to it. The America First Coalition won the civil war within the Republican Party with the Neocon establishment and is solidly entrenched in power and transformed the GOP forever! But they have one liability that could derail their whole movement, that being the woke right. Folks like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Glenn Greenwald, Andrew Tate, Dave Smith, Jake Shields, and Nick Fuentes are it’s champions. Their ideology can be summed up as consisting of anti-Americanism, antisemitism, anti-Zionism, celebrating and palling around with America’s enemies, smearing great historical figures and trafficking in insane conspiracy theories. I think you could put Alex Jones on this list as well. A few examples of their handy work. Faux-historian Darry Cooper has smeared both Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill as tyrants. Cooper has also said Churchill caused and refused to help relieve the 1943 Bengal Famine both of which are not true at all. Andrew Tate praised the Taliban and said he hopes to have a leader someday with the courage of Yahya Sinwar. Jackson Hinkle has praised Hamas, attended the funeral of former Hezbollah leader Nasrallah and has done propaganda for Vladimir Putin’s regime in Russia. Tucker Carlson had on antisemitic the Rev. Munther Isaac who is an antisemite and a modern day Father Coughlin basically. This was so Rev. Isaac could spin a tale about how Christians are “persecuted” in Israel. Which is preposterous, Israel is the only place in the Middle East where Christians are safe. The Christian population in Israel is exploding. Whereas in the Arab world it is falling rapidly. They also believe in ridiculous conspiracy theories like that “Zionists” meaning Jews, were behind 9/11, the assassination of JFK and the sinking of the Titanic. They also like to bring up the 1967 USS Liberty incident in which the IAF accidentally fired on an American ship and killed a number of U.S. sailors. They try to make out that this was somehow done on purpose. 🤦‍♂️ I thought Kharys made an interesting point too about them having their version of the oppression hierarchy with Zionist Jews on top as the ultimate evil oppressors and the Palestinians at the bottom as the poor, helpless victims who can do no wrong. They also see the United States as a monstrous Leviathan going around the world enforcing its will on unwilling populations and causing death and destruction wherever it goes. These folks are toxic to the MAGA Coalition and President Trump needs to denounce them and kick them out of the coalition before it’s too late and they bring the movement down from within and make it lose all credibility with the American people!

To summarize - a writer for a conspiracy theorist publication, who worked with the election denying conspiracy theorist who now runs the FBI, is surprised that MAGA is embracing even more virulent conspiracy theories. Sowing, reaping etc.

Mark. Re your statement "What are you going on about." She is describing a faction that is associated with "America First" but that has some differences. In the second paragraph she mentions monikers that OTHER PEOPLE have applied to this group and notes that "Woke Right" has "garnered much online fanfare." So, she selects this moniker in the balance of the article about this faction. I found no evidence that she is trying to shut up you or anyone else. The article is mostly descriptive with a negative slant towards the faction being discussed.

The position you voiced, i.e. that you are opposed to the Hamas attack on Israel and you are also opposed to Israel's response to that attack would not in my mind place you in the faction she discussed, whatever name you want to give it.

Thanks, Gary. I may as well just yank off the band-aid here and get it over with. I always thought the guy I like - Nick Freitas - was named Nick Fuentes. Big oops! I am devoted to truth. That means admitting when I'm a complete dunderhead. Thanks again.
