Geez, I have to do some work and this interview pops up. It is now on my listen list. But I wanted to mention that I used a Prager U video with Chloe Valdery. It was for my cultural anthropology class and she was bringing that truth to the instructor moment. Where a liberal professor just couldn't be consistent with evaluating behavior from different "races." From 2015. That's the cutting edge thinking we need. https://www.prageru.com/video/dont-judge-blacks-differently
Now that I listened to Connie and Chloe, I do have a reaction. First, I was surprised to hear about Chloe's Theory of Enchantment. Sounds somewhat like the training I had as a mediator and how to approach antagonistic individuals (and trying to keep my sanity while often not understanding why they were holding on so strongly to their antagonism). This is apart from any merits of one versus the other. Then, Connie's question to Chloe at the end led me to another angle of understanding. "Would you be willing to kill someone in self-defense?" To which Chloe said, "Yes." No hesitation. Well, that seems to loop back to the discussion of Israel versus Hamas. Instead of being a mediator (which doesn't seem to be working by the U.S., and actually trying to force a stalemate), Chloe would be placed in an existential survival mode. The Theory of Enchantment seems to work more for outsiders having to weigh the antagonisms of others rather than being immersed in a life and death situation. Anyway, that's just a thought. A good interview and good to hear about Chloe's further explorations.

Great conversation, and to top it all, a fellow Terrence Malick fan!
