Thank you for sharing your point of view, which resonates with more people than you can know. I have always thought that it was a supreme insult to Black people that the Progressive message was one of patronizing pandering. The narrative seems to suggest that not only are Black people inferior but that they can only be successful if White Progressives take up their cause. That's not Social Justice, it is merely a softer kind of slavery to a warped political ideology designed to use people of color to perpetuate itself--as you said so brilliantly in your piece. I never thought such a logical point of view would require the courage that it does today to express it. Bravo.
It is always inspiring to see courageous individuality on display. May you have much success in convincing others of how right your views are. Thank you!
Loving this piece from Brandy Shufutinsky! So many great excerpts from here but for me right now the best one is the final paragraph which I would love to see as a pledge done at teacher trainings for authentic social justice... One time - say it again... a little bit louder for the people in the back!
Very nice article. I would like to point out that Frederick Douglas, a famous and eloquent black author and former slave said, “Therefore, instead of encouraging slavery, the Constitution encourages freedom by giving an increase of “two-fifths” of political power to free over slave States. Without this lowering of how many congressmen the southern states had per capita, we would not have had a civil war and freedom for millions of slaves. Counting slaves at all for the purpose of granting congressmen was counter productive, as slaves could not vote.
The problem is not necessarily “progressives” but rather the all-too-common human weakness that seeks command over the minds of others. Your mind is your own. Don’t let anybody take it from you.
"I never had a chance" are words that make the devil dance. This was a powerful, thought-provoking essay. The individuality expressed is uplifting. Thank you.
This brought tears of inspiration to my eyes, Brandy! Coincidentally, I was called by a union staffer asking me (a local "teachers' union" president) if I could identify a speaker for an upcoming Black History Month dinner put on by the region union. The kind of folks reading works published in Free Black Thought can imagine the kind of sophistry and victimhood most likely to be aired at this dinner. I've been privy to such rhetoric for nearly three years from my local, state and national union leadership. Can you imagine the tumult and incredulity of attendees if I were to read Brandy's essay?! Of course, I would not without your expressed permission, Dr. Shufutinsky. Thank you for your contribution to FBT!
There is no end game for such "progressives", except maybe they rule over all of us. I think their ultimate dream would be to administer a CBDC, cancelling people economically on a whim. That, or something even darker...
Brilliantly said. A true test of how someone learned from his/her education is to do the tough thinking and picking a side with arguments well reasoned. It is disappointing that so many on the left got the education, but are not doing the thinking, rather they just repeat the oft repeated talking points.
Brandy, what a strong piece with a powerful title. I love how you referenced the pillars of our community and their strength to stand. You, Dear Friend, are a jewel and I honor your courage and strength. I stand beside you. Well done!.

This is amazing. Powerful in its moral clarity.

Excellent.

The need of white leftists to find folks of other ethnicities to "protect" reminds of nothing so much as Rudyard Kipling's "White Man's Burden" ...
